The network is Windows 2000 domain mix mode, all SP4. All users are using
Windows XP Pro SP1 with MS Office 2002. Some questions:

1. Can I intall SharePoint Portal Server and MS SQL Server 2000 on the same
Windows Server 2003 EE that is a member server in the domain? Any SPECIAL
requirement for this server?

2. Does this server need a large disk for the files to be shared? Or just
use the existing file server (Windows 2000)?

3. Do I need to upgrade other servers to Windows 2003, such as file server,
Exchange Server 2000 and DCs?

4. Is MS Office 2003 much better than 2002 for this job?

5. Price and CALs information?

6. Any good reference books or documents for this job?

Thanks.

Ian - Did you get these questions answered? I would be happy to answer them
I just see that this an older post so I didn't want to spend time doing it
unless you still needed the info.

Let me know

Thanks Shane.

Do you know if I can install SharePoint Portal Server on a Windows Server
2003 with ISA 2004 Server installed? Do you have any good documentation
recommended? Thanks.

Deploying on an Extranet by Using ISA Server 2000 and ISA Server 2004, as
promised, was released recently. You can download it at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4C5BF9DD-3EFB-451D-B213-98ED039190BF&displaylang=en.

I bet that is what you are looking for. And for the record I haven't
actually installed the 2 products on the same box but, I don't see why not.

Thanks a lot, Shane. It is exactly what I need. Do you have a white paper
link for setup after installation?

I am not sure what are you asking? How to config the portal after you are
done with install? WOW that opens a giant can of worms. You are pretty
much left to your creativity from there. Let me know if I can help.

Nope. Office 2003 provides you the most functionality but it isn't
required. I also belive you need IE 5.5 or better. Pretty basic stuff.

This document gives you a good idea of the functionality with office and the
different versions.
