Hi All,
I was wondering from other peoples experiences and best practice methods
what people would run share point on. With the scenario of approximately
600-700 users and perhaps 40% of these users using the services reasonably
heavily.
We have specified HP dl580's with four way 3Ghz Xeon's 2Gb RAM (storage is
not an issue). I believe this will be more than adequate taking into account
the projection of use for the next 3-5 years.
Does anybody know of any tools that could be used to project this data or
could anybody provide me with their experiences. More the merrier.
Thank you,
Neil

Neil,

Your hardware sounds sufficient for the number of users. As for the
projection of the next couple of years, it depends on how much content we're
talking about here. What kind of growth are you looking at? For some numbers
around what SharePoint can handle I highly recommend checking out the
capacity guide available here:

Bil,

Thank you very much for this. The document looks incredibly useful. As far
as growth is concerned I can not see our company growing beyond 10,000
users, so going by Microsoft's recommendations we should be equipped for the
future.

Thanks again.
