I have Sharepoint running on a windows 2003 machine - not the full portal
but the
workgroup version that's part of 2003.

Sharepoint works correctly however I can't figure out how to get a regular
ASP.Net
application to work on the same box. It's stored under
inetpub/wwwroot/test.
I went through the process of adding the test app to IIS in the usual way
(I'm no IIS
config expert but I've set this up before).

But no matter what, I can't access the test app even from the server itself.
I've tried changing the permissions around. Do I need to do something like
use a diferent port for the non sharepoint app? What's sharepoint doing
that its taking over the machine?

Thanks

Hi Bill,

You need to exclude this path, that is /test from Windows SharePoint
Services. To do this, try the following steps.

1. Open the IIS manager
2. Browse to the SharePoint Central Administration site and click on
Extend or Upgrade a virtual server.
3. Then click on the Complete list and click on the Default web site.
4. Click on the 'Define Managed Paths' hyperlink from Virtual Server
Management section.
5. Add /test in the text box and select the Excluded Path option.

Now the asp.net application in the test folder would work.

Hope this helps
